The rich man is always sold to the institution which makes him rich. Absolutely speaking, the more money, the less virtue. – Henry David Thoreau

  1. Song of the Day: “Here We Go Again” by Riddlin’ Kids. These guys broke up a while ago. Too bad. We need more people writing lyrics like “Didn’t mean to get here late, my car ran out of gas and then an airplane crashed into the road and I had to save the people“. – BLiggy

  2. Driver error, not the vehicle, appears to be the cause of a number of Toyota unintended acceleration cases. Hardly surprising. In a related story (via Slashdot), “researchers at the University of Michigan found that misinformed people, particularly political partisans, rarely changed their minds when exposed to corrected facts in news stories. In fact, they often became even more strongly set in their beliefs. Facts, they found, were not curing misinformation. Like an underpowered antibiotic, facts could actually make misinformation even stronger.” Listen to the story here. –Burdell

  6. I’m sometimes asked how I manage to spend so much time on Facebook. The fact of the matter is that I don’t spend that much time on the actual site. I have several tools I use that keep perpetual connections to Facebook open, and that makes it appear that I’m there when I’m not. Think of R2D2 projecting Princess Leia for Obi Wan. It’s kinda like that. Adium is one of those tools. It’s a chat client that manages MSN, Google Talk, Facebook Chat, AIM (iChat) and many more. I just leave it open all day because I talk with my sysadmin on MSN a lot. I added Facebook chat in as an experiment and just never turned it off. Chances are if you are doing Facebook Chat with me, I’m using Adium and am not on the Facebook site at all. – BLiggy
